Now single after having been in a many-years-long monogamous relationship. Retired health care professional, retired military (enlisted and commssioned service USAF). Not very typical of what some might consider the conservative military retiree, however. Open minded, nonjudgemental, with a deep, non doctrinal faith base, but I believe in common sense, evidence-based science, and critical thinking, and I seek to relate with others who value those characteristics as well. Limited somewhat by low vision but have learned to adapt and continue to learn to live a new life on my own. Remain physically fit and healthy through regular gym workouts and a healthy lifestyle. Don't smoke or drink excessively. Drug/disease free.
What I am looking for
I love solitude but am tired of loneliness. Seeking friends with similar values to share connection and intimacy. I'm not looking for short-term sexual hookups. I think some trust and establishing connection is an essential first step in getting to know somebody, and sexual expression may occur quickly, more slowly, or not at all, but that shouldn't be the main thrust in meeting and knowing somebody. I find the virtual world somewhat daunting, I suppose because I grew up in a time when face-to-face intearction was the norm, and I still prefer that type of interaction to assess affect and demeanor, as well as to help discern intent and character. I also seek interaction with others who are comfortable with the realities presented us with aging successfully through patience and acceptance of how we the years have changed the way we look.
